On the morning of September 11th, 2023, Lynda Perez suffered a stroke — her second in half a decade. After a day of being able, with some difficulty, to communicate with well-wishing hospital visitors, she became vegetative in the middle of the night. The afternoon of the 12th, she was officially declared brain dead. The following day she was removed from life support. She is survived by 5 siblings, 5 niblings, 7 great-niblings, 1 parent, her partner Alameen Nieves, and countless other distant relatives on the island of Puerto Rico.
Unable to find the proper words to say, I shall let this piece serve as my eulogy to her.
The date of publication, September 28th, would have been her 46th birthday.
May this melody live on in her stead and spread the memory of her beyond those whose lives she touched.
Those who were present at the wake and/or funeral were able to hear this early as part of the services, but if you're reading this that likely doesn't include you anyways.
